What is a SmartMedia
Card?
The SmartMedia Card (SSFDCTM)
is the industry's thinnest, small-form-factor storage media.
It provides low cost, mobile data storage in a very small interchangeable
format. Combining small size with simple architecture, SmartMedia
consists of a single NAND flash, electronically erasable, programmable
read-only memory chip, embedded in a thin plastic card. Shaped
similar to a large postage-stamp, the SmartMedia is about one
third the size of a PC card and only 0.76mm in thickness. The
SmartMedia data format, which is based on the ATA and DOS file
